Although I haven’t had the chance to use this product as yet , I have read an awful lot of reviews written by people that have used this filter . After inspecting it pretty thoroughly , I believe I am safe in saying that It has all the makings of a well made water filter. After all, if it is used by our military , it must be one of the best because of the tough tests that they run them through before they are issued . I plan on using mine in emergency situations and camping trips. Only down side that I see in it is , it does not filter out viruses .

I just started to use it for several minutes, at first the water flow is very good, but after a while, water became hard to pop in and most of water came out from where it goes in, flow rate out from bottom decreased very much. When I try to open it to inspect what was going wrong, the ceramic cartridge simply broke when it came out but nothing seemed to be wrong inside. Now I have to buy a new cartridge which is another $50 waste of money

My son and I recently used the MSR Miniworks EX on a Boy Scout backpacking trip. I purchased this based on a recommendation of other Scouts in our troop. The filter worked excellently, allowing us to stay well hydrated on the entire trip. The cleanup afterwards was quick and easy due to the design of the unit. I am very pleased with this purchase and would highly recommend it to anyone considering a portable purification unit. We are storing it in our emergency “go bag” in case of disaster so that no matter what happens my family will have access to pure and clean water.

I was a product manager, traveling all over, sometimes to remote regions without good drinking water. Once while in South America I contracted giardia, a nasty waterborne bug that causes severe distress. It took nine months to recover fully. Never again. I am on my second MiniWorks and have given another to a friend who is an avid hiker. It’s lightweight, you can take it on a plane in your carry-on, and it’s rugged enough to handle travel. The bottom fits a standard water bottle so you just place the hose into the best water you can find, pump the handle and you get filtered water. I fill up my own water bottles when traveling and take them with me.

I purchased this product upon the strong recommendation of my brother, who has extensive backcountry hiking and camping experience. The filter is simple to use, pumps quickly, and is very easy to disassemble, clean, and reassemble.
Unlike some other reviewers I feel it’s sufficiently robust, especially considering it’s relatively light. Keep in mind it requires regular cleaning and drying for optimal performance.
My only request (and a minor one, at that) would be for the little instruction guide to be printed on waterproof paper.
